Green Party of Nova Scotia to Elect New Leader on October 23rd

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Halifax 10/21/2021

The Green Party of Nova Scotia (GPNS) will be electing a new Leader and Deputy Leader this week. Under the GPNS Constitution members will vote for a “Leadership ticket” which is made up of two people, one running for Leader and one for Deputy Leader.  There will be one pair of contestants, Anthony Edmonds for Leader and Jo-Ann Roberts for Deputy Leader, and as per GPNS rules, members have the option to vote for the pair or ‘none of the above’.  A previous contestant pair withdrew from the race in September.

The results will be announced at 4 pm on October 23rd at a Special General Meeting. Members can attend in person at the Sackville Heights Community Centre (all Covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to) or via Zoom. The Special General Meeting will take place between 2:30 and 4:30 pm, with on-site registration beginning at 2:00 pm. Voting for the new leadership team will be by electronic ballot and every member of the GPNS is eligible to vote.

Jessica Alexander, the former Deputy Leader, has served as Interim Leader of GPNS since Thomas Trappenberg left as leader in April.
