Sheila Richardson
I am currently a CCA Continuing Care Assistant. For over fourteen years, I have worked with seniors to enable them to stay in their home, as long as possible.
Starting in 1971, I taught in Northern Ireland and England for nine years. Since coming to Canada, I have been working as a Community Developer, Adult Educator, Counsellor and Mediator.
I board International students from Acadia University. My passion is sewing and I have a business: Rainbow Stitches.
In 1993, I ran federally, in Halifax West, for the New Democratic Party.
In 2004, I was the first organiser, in Nova Scotia, for the Green Party of Canada. My job was to find thirteen Candidates to run for the 2004 federal election. Since then, I served on Federal Coincil, for two terms, ran federally four times and provincially five times. I have run for the Leadership of the Green Party of Nova Scotia.
Childcare was the issue that got me involved in politics. Currently, my overriding issues would be: Seniors, Health Care, Education for my four grand children and Climate Change.
In 1994, I obtained a Masters in Education, Counselling, and Community Development, from Dalhousie University.
This September, 2024, I became the President of PROBUS: a professional and business organisation for retired and semi-retired seniors. Our goals are: friendship, fellowship and Fun.
Since 1995, I have been quilting beautiful works of art. I love rainbows, butterflies and transformation.
I play the Game of Transformation from Findhorn, Forres, Scotland. I love to dance Latin and swing. I used to sing in the North Mountain Choir. I am an avid reader and I am currently reading: Grateful Hopeful by Maude Barlow and the In-Between about Hospice Care.
