Frank Fawson
Frank’s focus has been on making his local community stronger and healthier. Local politics is one way he has worked to build community. He has been a candidate in nine different municipal elections serving as an elected councillor for eight years, one as deputy mayor for the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.
Volunteerism helps build community. Frank spent many years as a member of the Dayspring and District Volunteer Fire Department: ten as treasurer; for five years headed up a community supported Christmas Day Dinner, with entertainment; led a committee to publish the 2014 book Firefighters of Lunenburg County, The Greatest Volunteer Success Story. He also spent many years chairing and serving on the board of the community member owned Lahave River Credit Union.
He is a licensed carpenter, past general contractor and trades instructor, who works and creates with wood. His latest creation is a small, affordable, highly energy efficient, solar, net zero energy home which uses no additional off site produced energy. He believes we all have a role to play in acting to slow Climate Change.
Frank and his partner love travelling around Nova Scotia in their vintage Boler RV. Dancing is their
favourite pass time. During the shut down dark days of COVID, videos of them winter dancing alone at local town gazebos could be found online. They encouraged others to join them.
He sincerely believes Actions Speak Louder than Words and government should lead with a long term sustainable vision for the future.
