2017 Annual General Meeting and Convention

April 29, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Come join us for our 2017 Annual General Meeting and Convention! This will be an opportunity for GPNS members and supporters to come together, meet some of our candidates, and kick off campaigns.

We are excited to announce that our guest speakers this year include Peter Bevan-Baker, David Coon, and Lil MacPherson.

Peter Bevan-Baker is the Leader of the Green Party of Prince Edward Island and the MLA for District 17. Peter has been associated with the Green Party for over 20 years, sitting on federal councils and also running as a candidate numerous times, and became the leader of the Green Party of PEI in 2012. Over the years, he has never wavered from his belief that the Green Party provides a timeless outstanding innovative approach to politics which will secure a prosperous, fulfilling and safe future for coming generations. As the first Green MLA ever elected in Prince Edward Island, Peter is an inspiring and positive example of perseverance and commitment.
David Coon is the first elected Green MLA in New Brunswick history, and the third Green parliamentarian elected in Canada. Since his election in 2014, David has introduced private member’s bills aimed at increasing local food security and expanding local agriculture, creating jobs in energy efficient building renovations and renewable energy, lowering the voting age, protecting citizens against frivolous lawsuits, and making the teaching of the First Nations’ experience mandatory in the public school system. He has championed improving access to both mental and primary health care.

Lil MacPherson, born and raised in Nova Scotia, has always had a passion for environmental issues. After spending 25 years in the food service industry, Lil was inspired in 2004 to follow her life long dream to open a restaurant, The Wooden Monkey, which brings Halifax the most environmentally conscious restaurant it’s ever had. Lil believes her business is the most powerful way for her to express her values, serve her community, and make a contribution to a healthier natural environment. Lil is also a trained Al Gore Presenter for The Climate Change Project for An Inconvenient Truth. She is a public speaker on organic sustainable foods systems and our future foods. Lil was also a mayoral candidate in the 2016 HRM Municipal elections.

Please join us for what is sure to be an uplifting and inspiring gathering of Greens. Members and non-members welcome!
