Tyler Colbourne is a community worker and volunteer who is passionate about social justice, adult-education, and environmental stewardship. He has worked in non-profit as a coordinator and manager in experiential and adult-education programs in Atlantic Canada and overseas. He has also worked in tourism operations as a guide, coordinator, and manager throughout Atlantic Canada. In 2015 Tyler was also awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. This year he received his Sovereign Medal for Volunteers.
His combination of experiences provide him with a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities presented to individuals and community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Wonder’neath Art Society in Halifax and has also served on the Board of Directors for Halifax Jazz Festival and the Youth Project.
Tyler was raised in Nova Scotia in a military family. His connections to Dartmouth North run through two generations. His mother grew up in Shannon Park and now Tyler works for the Dartmouth Learning Network on Wyse Rd with adult learners who are looking to improve their literacy and career prospects. He is committed to working towards a more just and harmonious society where people can thrive in healthy environments with dignity and respect.
