Shaun Trainor, Truro, Bible Hill, Millbrook, Salmon River

Shaun Trainor was born and raised in the Truro area and has been involved in Green politics since 2012. After graduating from Cobequid Educational Centre in 2012, they completed a BA in Human Rights at Malmö University in Sweden. They then moved to the United Kingdom to undertake an MSc in Climate Justice at Glasgow Caledonian University and an MSc in Psychology at the University of Stirling before returning home to Nova Scotia.

At home and abroad, Shaun has been involved with several social justice, climate, and housing organisations, including Cinema Politica, FridaysForFuture, One Resilient Earth, the Living Earth Council, the Truro Homeless Outreach Society, the Truro Farmers Market Cooperative and the Nova Scotia Environment Network. They have worked for the Malmö University Housing Office as a Housing Administrator and, more recently, for the Atlantic chapter of the Sierra Club Canada Foundation as Community Climate Change Outreach Coordinator.

Shaun believes in the fundamental right of every human being to live a comfortable and dignified life. They are drawn to the Green Party’s prioritization of affordable housing, guaranteed liveable income, and social and climate justice in order to achieve this right. Shaun decided to run for MLA because they feel that a more accessible, just, and sustainable world is within our reach, and we deserve a government with the courage to build it.

Shaun enjoys spending time outside with family and friends, and is an avid hiker, kayaker, and beachgoer. They also enjoy yoga, meditation, cycling, and reading.

The Green Party of Nova Scotia is excited to have Shaun Trainor as our candidate in the riding of Truro – Bible Hill – Millbrook – Salmon River.
