Nick Hendren, Cumberland South

I am someone who has been working class their entire life and knows the struggles of trying to live life on a minimum wage job. I have been involved in different political parties and it wasn’t until I found the Green Party of Nova Scotia that I knew this was where I was meant to be. From being a volunteer to now running as a candidate myself, I am ready to no longer sit on the sidelines but be able to make change.

For me, the values I hold dear are firstly the climate crisis which we need to be doing much more to bring this to where we need to be not only to stop the progress but reverse the progress (which has been proven as achievable). Secondly, there is diversity and equality because this is something I battle on a daily basis being someone from the LGBTQ2IA+ community and know the importance of it.

As for myself, I am a young, queer Green who is looking to make a change in this province and ultimately the world. Within my community, I have become a volunteer firefighter to aid in the process of keeping the community safe and minimizing the damage from fires, accidents, and anything else in between. As well, I have an educational background in event management as well as medical transcription providing me the knowledge to handle situations from health care to budgets. Finally, I am currently a new Digital Activist with an environmental organization spreading the word to help save the environment one click at a time.

In my free time, I am an avid reader and mostly enjoy non-fiction, but do enjoy an escape into a fantasy world every so often. As well, I am in the process of starting a podcast taking environmental topics and giving a short synopsis you can listen to on a work break, in the car, wherever to understand the world and the environmental issues (and ways to improve) better.

The Green Party of Nova Scotia is excited to have Nicholas Hendren as our candidate in the riding of Cumberland South.
