Harry Ward is a proud Nova Scotian, a successful entrepreneur, and a dedicated volunteer to his community. At 55, Harry has owned and operated his thriving home construction and renovation business, HPI – Homework Projects Inc., for more than 25 years. He has a strong network of satisfied clients that keep his crews busy without ever spending on formal advertising.
A natural leader, Harry grew up in the Lewis Lake area and spent summers working as a painter, and eventual crew leader for project work and fire fighting within Jerry Lawrence and Long Lake Provincial Parks for the Department of Lands and Forests. He studied fine furniture making and further developed his craftsmanship through the architectural drawing and design course earned at NSCC.
Outside of his busy work schedule, Harry consistently volunteers his time and talents to support several community groups and has done for decades. In recognition of his dedication, he was awarded HRM Volunteer of the Year in 2014.
He currently serves on four volunteer Boards including: Alexandra Children’s Centre, Estabrooks Community Hall, Bay Treasure Chest Association and Chair, Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust. He is also sought as an advisor to other environmental groups in Nova Scotia, like the Sandy Lake Wilderness Park Coalition. He holds a position on the Advisory Board for that community group.
Harry is a proud Dad to his son David, currently studying Commerce at Dalhousie University.
An avid fisherman, Harry loves nature, hiking and spending time outdoors with his free time.
