SUMMARY:Please Join Green Party Leaders at Sipekne’katik Water Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Green Party of Nova Scotia are invited to join Thomas Trappenberg\, Jessica Alexander and federal leader Elizabeth May on the site of the treaty Truckhouse to offer support to a group of indigenous water protectors on the Shubenacadie River.  \n“Protection of our precious waterways\, our fish stocks\, and our equally precious relationship with Nova Scotia’s indigenous peoples is more important than a short-sighted attempt to bolster our fossil fuel infrastructure\,” states Thomas Trappenberg\, leader of the Nova Scotia Green Party. “We must face the fact that we need to be moving toward a more sustainable future. The water protectors here understand that\, why doesn’t our government?” \nIn attendance will be:  Elizabeth May\, MP\, Saanich-Gulf Islands\, Leader of the Green Party of Canada; Thomas Trappenberg\, Leader\, Green Party of Nova Scotia; Jessica Alexander\, Deputy Leader\, Green Party of Nova Scotia\, along with Dorene Bernard\, Water Protector and Sipekne’katik Elder and Dale Poulette\, treaty Truckhouse organizer. \nThe ceremony is a sacred event\, but cameras are welcome before and after it. A shared moose stew luncheon will follow. \nThomas Trappenberg and family recently visited the proposed Alton Gas site\, meeting with the Water Protectors at the Treaty Truck House.
