After completing a bachelor of arts, majoring in history and political science, I graduated with a bachelor of education in 2020. I have begun my teaching career this year, working at the Bear River First Nation school.
I have had a strong concern for environmental protection ever since I was a child, instilled in me by my mother. Now a mother myself, this concern has deepened. As the years go by, decision makers seem less and less concerned with societal welfare and multiple crisis continue to spiral out of control. I am passionate about finding solutions for issues such as: affordable housing; poverty; improved, prevention- focused healthcare; improved mental health care; transitioning to green energy quickly; ramping up ecosystem conservation and protection; fighting for social justice; and improving our democracy so that citizens feel they have a voice against larger-than-life corporations.
I am a newcomer to Nova Scotia, having moved here from Hope, B.C. last summer with my husband, four daughters, my dog and cat, and a small trailer… during a pandemic! It was an experience! I appreciate how welcomed we have been in this new province and it is starting to feel like home. Most of my free time is spent with friends and family, sometimes checking out new beaches and hot spots, sometimes sitting around drinking coffee. While I may be new to the political scene, I have been an avid supporter of the Green party for a long time and I always knew there would come a time when I would step up and get involved!
