Kathaleen Milan is a self proclaimed tree hugger since she first was sat in the outdoors and found the wonder that surrounded her there. She has spent her life speaking out for the rights of nature, knowing that the health of our environment is directly related to our own.
She entered politics as a volunteer with the young Liberals, for the late Pierre Elliot Trudeau and supported that party for many years. When the Liberals championed genetically engineered foods and then refused mandatory labeling she turned to the NDP. When it became clear to her that the three established parties were harder to distinguish one from the other, she found a perfect fit for her values in the Green Party. She feels this will be the direction we all will have to turn to considering the degradation of our land, air and water, which is directly related to the political decisions that are being made, mostly, without our educated consent.
Kathaleen has been very active in trying to hold her government to account over the years and finds that endeavour to be both exhausting and punishing. She would be delighted to have a Green government, one that includes the voters and the environment in every decision made on their behalf.
