The Green Party of Nova Scotia recognizes the intricate connections of a healthy environment, conservative use of our natural resources, thriving communities, and a sustainable economy.
Cecile Vigneault, Pictou West
My name is Cecile Vigneault. I was born in Pictou, N.S. then moved away to Verdun, Quebec at the age of 7. In Quebec I attended elementary and high school. After graduating high school, I attended a one year business school, and then entered the workforce as a financial statement typist. At the age of 21 Vancouver became my home for the next 27 years before returning to the east coast. While in Vancouver, I worked at Chartered Accountant firms as a typist and then as a bookkeeper. To get my theory in business accounting I attended Langara College and from there continued to expand my knowledge of Accounting Principals. During day time, it was full time work; and at night, client accounting and teaching one on one bookkeeping to university students. On weekends I created fabric reindeers to sell at community markets. I did community work with the Dunbar community center as co-ordinator facilitating a program with Autistic and mentally challenged children. The seawall was my home for running each morning before going to work.
I returned to Nova Scotia where my sibling and I purchased a house in Pictou in 1998. My parents moved from Quebec and my aunt who owned Goody’s grocery store in Pictou lived with us. Since 2000 I have been a member of the Northumerland Quilt Guild where I took on the responsibility of being treasurer, secretary, librarian, on committee team for Retreat, Quilt Show and Sale.
I am a member of The New Horizon’s 55+ Senior Community Club where I participate in Line-Dancing twice a week, and demonstrate our skill at various nursing homes in Pictou County. Gardening has become a stress release and the knowledge of gardening was due to two garden centers I worked at, along with help from the Pictou Garden Club.
I became the Official Agent in the Federal Election with David Hachey, Green Party candidate for Central Nova. With a crash course in new software, accounting rules and regulation and final approval, the whole political procedure was an eye opener.
Our home as grown as I am now living with 4 siblings, each making a 100% contribution to the well being of each other.
